Positron and Github copilot setup

Software to install

  • Positron

Accounts to create

  • Github (use your drew.edu email)

Activation and authentication

  • Enable Positron assistant
  • Authenticate with your Github credentials

Step-by-step

Install Positron

Github account

  • Create a Github account with your drew.edu email, and apply for Github Education

Activate Positron Assistant

  • Open Positron
  • Click on the little robot guy on the left side
  • Click “Enable Positron Assistant”, and enable it

Authenticate with Github

  • In the robot-guy menu, click “Add a Chat Provider”
  • In the Configure Language Providers menu, click on Github Copilot and sign in with OAuth
  • You will need to paste a code copied from Positron into your web browser for Github
  • Once done, return to Positron
  • Click Ctrl+Shift+P (Command palette, Cmd+Shift+P on Mac) to search for and run “Developer: Reload Window”
